One of the most beautiful things about yoga is that it truly is for every body. But in a world full of curated poses and images, it’s easy to feel like your body doesn’t quite “fit” the practice. If you’ve ever felt that way, this post is for you.

Yoga, especially when approached through the lens of Ayurveda, acknowledges that we’re all built differently. Our bodies, energies, and tendencies vary – what feels grounding and nourishing for one person might be overstimulating or draining for another. This is where understanding the Ayurvedic body types – Vata, Pitta, and Kapha can be so helpful.

Vata types tend to be light, airy, and energetic, but can feel scattered or anxious when out of balance.

Pitta types are strong, driven, and fiery, but can easily overheat or become overly intense.

Kapha types are grounded, calm, and nurturing, but can feel sluggish or stuck at times.

These are not fixed categories, but rather dynamic forces within us. Most of us are a combination of two (or all three), and our dominant type can shift with time, environment, and lifestyle.

Knowing this helps us approach our practice with more compassion and awareness. Whether you’re naturally flexible or not, high-energy or slow-moving, yoga can meet you exactly where you are.

In the coming posts, I’ll be sharing yoga poses and practices tailored to each body type, helping you explore what feels most supportive and energizing for you.
